PostSubject: England's tour of Sri Lanka   Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:50 pm

Fixtures (credits to cricinfo)

Mar 15 to Mar 17
Sri Lanka Board XI v England XI @ Colombo SSC

Mar 20 to Mar 22
Sri Lanka Cricket Deev XI vs England XI @ Colombo SSC

Mar 26 to Mar 30
1st Test - Sri Lanka v England @ Galle

Apr 3 to Apr 7
2nd Test - Sri Lanka vs England @ Colombo PSS

--------------------------

England would be looking to do better this tour after losing 3-0 to Pakistan. Questions regarding their no 1 ranking have been prevailing due to their poor run in the SC despite they thrasing Pak 4-0 in the subsequent ODI series.

In the previous tour only Cook, Trott and Broad (:p) looked threatening with bat in the tests. ODIs were much better with KP getting form.

Samit Patel has been given a chance to play in Test 1. He's done well for Notts. Hope he can de well with England too!

Swann and Anderson have looked good so far in Test 1. Batting is still a worry! :(

After seeing first test, Panesar shoudln't play in the next. He's been abysmal in the field and unthreatening with the ball.

My team

1. Strauss*
2. Cook
3. Trott
4. Pietersn
5. Bell/Bopara
6. Prior+
7. Patel
8. Swann
9. Broad
10. Jimmy
11. Any other pacer

Hope England win and prove the critics wrong that they can't play in SC conditions.

Well tbh England are right back into the game. 5 wickets down Sri Lanka I see them getting all out on a 130ish score. England will yet be chasing 260-275 odd runs and its a tough ask.

England cannot play spin well and its proved 4 times in a row now

Lets see. England amassed a 350ish score against Pak last series, if they can repeat that then they could win...

Well this is fantastic from Sri Lanka their tail has really put them in front. 340 to chase that is the highest chase for a team is really going to be difficult.

Everyone's skill and concentration will play a big factor as 340 is damn chasable in 216 overs that is 2 full days and todays 36 overs Smile

England are in deep trouble. 2 wickets down and Strauss out on a horrendous shot. He is the one to be blamed. England's trouble against spin does not have an ending already both wickets picked by Herath Happy

Barring Trott and Prior, no one batted sensibly. Playing the sweep so frequently is a suicide.

Exactly, England are really outplayed by Sri Lanka and they need to really up the anti to prove their worth as No 1 team as one more defeat and a small era of Number 1 position ends for them Smile
